Essential or Signature Mattress: two new options in twin and double
You’ve picked the bed and the little blanket. There’s still one thing you won’t see much once the sheets are on, but it deserves some thought: the mattress. Between size, thickness and materials, how do you choose one for your child’s room?
Two new models are joining the Petit Royaume collection: the Essential Mattress and the Signature Mattress. Both come in twin and double sizes, perfectly suited to our Petit Royaume beds in the matching size. Here’s what sets them apart to help you choose your favourite.
The Essential Mattress: a 6-inch foam mattress
The Essential Mattress offers balanced support with a thickness of 6 inches, or approximately 15.2 cm. Made in Canada by Matelas Dauphin, it contains CertiPUR-US® certified foam.
Its thinner profile keeps the sleeping surface lower. It’s an option worth considering if you like the close-to-the-floor feel of a Montessori bed.
The Signature Mattress: 8 inches, organic cotton and wool
The Signature Mattress stands out for its 8-inch thickness, or approximately 20.3 cm, its 100% organic cotton cover and its 100% Joma® virgin wool padding. Its foam is also CertiPUR-US® certified.
If the materials in the cover and padding matter to you, these are the features to take a closer look at. Joma® wool helps regulate temperature and manage moisture.

There are two parts to the choice: the model based on its features, then the size to match your bed. You can choose a twin Essential, a double Essential, a twin Signature or a double Signature.
Twin or double: start with the space you have
Already have a Petit Royaume bed? Simply choose the matching mattress size: twin for a twin bed, double for a double bed. Both the Essential and the Signature fit our beds.

The bed and mattress, all in one place

Getting the bed ready for everyday life
Make sure your sheets suit the mattress size and thickness. Keep the care instructions for your chosen model, too: the materials differ from one mattress to the other.
For the Essential, we recommend a protective cover, and its mattress cover must not go in the dryer. For the Signature, follow the instructions supplied with the product before cleaning its cover or padding.
